Process

Depth Psychotherapy and Counseling is a process of creative growth. It is the deepening of consciousness and the re-integration of what has been denied and rejected. We gain access to what our feelings and emotions are trying to communicate to us. We become sensitive and attuned to the messages of our dreams and fantasies. There is the creation of complexity within, the construction of multiple perspectives for vision and, the releasing of a richer potential and capacity to relate to and act in the world.

The process of Depth Psychotherapy is the uncovering the meaning (logos) of our suffering (pathos). It is the recovery of the meaning that underlies and constitutes our suffering, pains, problems, and conflicts; the depth of meaning embedded in our symptoms, feelings, emotions, dreams and fantasies. It is the recognition and integration of these multiples voices within, with their competing values, purposes, and points-of-view.

Psyche’s language is our pathologies; Depth Psychotherapy is the deciphering of the text embodied within our dis-orders. These hidden meanings, values, purposes, lie beyond conscious apprehension. They constitute the dynamic of the unconscious psyche. Depth Psychotherapy’s process makes consciousness conscious of what is unconscious. It is the making of meaning (psychology making); the meaning of our depressions, of our addictions, of our eating, of our conflicts in our personal relationships, of our disorders of body, and of the de-structuring within our psyche. The knowledge and re-integration of loss meaning results in effective action in our world, creative problem solving, greater intimacy with others, and giving voice and life to our deepest realities and truths. We gain a truer sense of and trust in our-self.
